Liliana Solomon, the toughest lady from Cluj
In the highest position at the Connex telephony operator
Liliana Solomon, from Cluj, the only Romanian put in a management position at Connex by Vodafone, will take over the activity of the former CEO, Ted Lattimore, in two weeks. Except for Ted Lattimore, no employee knows the details that led to naming Liliana Solomon in the highest position at the Connex telephony operator. Solomon will run the new Romanian company with a turnover, estimated income for this year of nearly one billion Euros. Replacement of Lattimore was announced by Paul Donovan, the Regional Director of the Vodafone subsidiaries. Liliana Solomon was transferred to Connex from the position of the financial manager of Cable & Wireless Great Britain, held also by Vodafone after being bought from T Mobile, division of Deutsche Telekom. Solomon was the vice-president at the management division of the German company Deutsche Telekom, where she was transferred from in June 2000 to the financial director’s position at the DT1, One2one subsidiary with Harris Jones, Marketing manager. Felicia Candidatu, project-manager at Connex, says that Solomon is not yet officially employed by the operator. “It was yesterday (Wednesday, n. ed.) we found out about this as well. Mrs. Solomon has not come yet in the country, I don’t even know if she is at Vodafone or at another company”, Candidatu declared. Lattimore remains in his position as CEO of Connex until the end of the next month. According to a Connex release, Solomon got her MBA at INSEAD France. (M.P.)
