Pupils – economic analysts
For the first time on the Romanian educational market, the Junior Achievement Romania foundation organizes the “Economic Press in the Class” program, destined to high-school pupils and students. Benefiting from the support of Connex Vodafone, the “Economic Press in the Class” will be the first program in Romania using articles on economic issues as the basis of debates and case studies in the classroom. “We initiated this program in order to correlate the economic classes in schools and universities with the real problems of the market economy. During economics classes, pupils and students will effectuate cases studies and debates on the economic publications, relating to real economic situations”, Stefania Popp, executive director of Junior Achievement Romania declared. “By this new educational program, over 15 thousand youngsters will be up to date with the news in the Romanian and international economic and business environment. Additionally, pupils and students will become familiar with the main business publications in Romania and with the way these present the data”, Lidia Solomon, the PR director of Connex Vodafone declared.
Media classes
Over 15.000 youngsters of 16-24 from 64 cities from across the entire country will benefit from this program. The didactic support will be provided by 323 teachers, and each class will receive subscription to economic publications for work in classes as well as an access account to materials published online. “They will receive subscriptions to most economic publications on the market, precisely for studying more than just one newspaper. Normally, the program is performed in 11th grade and all pupils the teacher has in the class participate”, Stefania Popp explained us. In Mures county, the participating units are the Ludus Industrial School Group, the Lucian Blaga School Group from Reghin and Avram Iancu from Targu Mures, the Unirea and Alexandru Papiu Ilarian National Colleges as well as the Bolyai Farkas High-school, where ten economics teachers will work with the pupils of Mures county. Each month, the youngsters subscribed in the program will have the opportunity to participate in online competitions, and the best among them will be invited to the “Market economy … something you learn! Read the economic press” workshop which will take place in May. This workshop proposes to gather 20 youngsters from the “Economic press in the class” program, ten teachers and 15 representatives of the economic press, in order to debate the current economic issues approached to in the Romanian publications. The “Economic press in the class” program uses “learning by doing” study methods and it is part of the National Program for Economic Educations and Entrepreneurship, effectuated by Junior Achievement in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Research.
