The Tourism Fair, poor in participants
The International Tourism Fair, performed in the October 20th-23rd period at the Romexpo, did not lack offers. The same conditions, different prices. If you examine the offers of Romanian tourism agents and hotels closely enough, you will see that at the same level of comfort, offers for vacations abroad are a few tens of Euros cheaper, thus the Romanians prefer spending their vacation in foreign countries, in exotic places, to visiting their own country.
If you opt for New Year’s Eve in Poiana Brasov, in a three-star hotel, with breakfast and festal New Year’s Eve’s dinner included, you have to provide almost 400 Euros per person, and if you prefer the Tatra Mountains in Slovakia, with the same packet of services, you save approximately 150 Euros. For those who can afford a more expensive vacation, the “Exotic New Year’s Eve in Thailand” is a profitable offer. For 1.255 Euros, transportation provided, room for 7 nights in a 4 star hotel, festal New Year’s Eve’s dinner, visits and trips to sightseeing locations, with a local guide and permanent attendant, the client will turn down the offer to spend the turn between the years in Poiana Brasov, in the same conditions, for 910 Euros per person, without a guide, attendant or transportation provided or visits to various places.
Sighisoara steps up
For the first time, the Sighisoara Town Hall made its presence felt, with an electronic-technical equipment distribution company for hotels. “We participated through the association with several commercial companies in the tourism field, within booths set up by these. We distributed brochures, posters, we made Sighisoara known, which is visited already by thousands of tourists annually, we presented offers for room, but that’s about all I can tell you”, Mihaela Turk, the PR responsible within the Sighisoara Town Hall confessed us.
Ioan Sarbu, the manager of the Sighisoara Tour Agency, had an area of 40 sq m reserved. The agency from Sighisoara has participated in nearly 20 national and international fairs until the present time. “Businessmen and tourism agencies who wished to promote the areas they came from participated in the fair. Even though the bigger agencies boycotted the fair due to some disagreements, they let the fair go off as planned”, Ioan Sarbu declared us. The manager of Sighișoara Tour, who provided a short presentation of the town he represents, by using a projector on a huge screen in the Romexpo hall, considers that this year the fair was of a higher level than the ones so far, and the best thing was that a much higher number of young people participated in this event.
