Happy Birthday for SMURD

The Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication will celebrate 15 years of constant work and dedication on Saturday. More than 80 patients resort to the doctors and nurses that are considered lifesavers. Every year, students from all over Romania come to Târgu Mureș to learn about Emergency Service, while the initiator of SMURD, doctor Raed Arafat, became a symbol of Târgu Mureș. The first mobile resuscitation unit arrived in 1991 and came as a donation from the German people. In 1992, SMURD established a long-term cooperation with Great Britain and Norway. Since 1999, SMURD has a helicopter serving eight counties. On Saturday, SMURD will celebrate its anniversary with a concert held in the State Philharmonic. The editorial staff wishes SMURD great accomplishments in the next year! (C.A.)
