The popular social-democrat, Florea The mayor migrates to the DP
Dorin Florea, the mayor of Targu Mures, secretly met on Thursday in Cluj Napoca, the
minister of administration and internal affairs, Vasile Blaga, meeting mediated by the mayor of Cluj, Emil Boc. Present at the meeting of the mayors in Romania on the issue of local and community police, Florea used this occasion to perfect his moving to the DP, rumor that has been circulating since June. According to important sources from the DP, Florea dined with minister Blaga, he saw him out to the stairs of the plane, remaining that the announcement about his joining the Democrats is launched officially on Monday or next week the latest.
The Democrats of Mures will not have an easy life in the following period, especially because their national leaders, through the negotiations effectuated behind their backs, despite of the Transylvanian affiliation, have proved that the Mures branch of the DP is a second-rate partner, unable to perform these talks by itself. Likewise, the central leaders of the party, namely Boc and Blaga, by performing the negotiations at the central level, have granted Florea an importance we could call strategic, at the same time humiliating their colleagues in the party in the county.
Although the vice-president of the central DP, Mircea Hava, mayor of Alba Iulia, will be present on Monday in Targu Mures for consultation with the members of the branch with regard to the Florean adherence, we are sorry to admit this, but we don’t believe that the opinion of Dinu Socotar & co will make any difference. And next month’s elections for presidency of the organization in the county might definitively decide the Socotar-Florea game in favor of the latter one. (S.G.)
