A vice-mayor like Briciu

Negotiations during the weekend between the DP and the FDGR leader, Klaus Johannis, delved up the name of Virgil Briciu as future vice-mayor of Sibiu, to take over the place of the outgoing Social-democrat Ioan Banciu. Neither Dan Nanu nor Constantin Sovaiala will take over the place of Ioan Banciu, sources from within the DP Sibiu affirm. From the propositions Nicolae Neagu, the leader of the DP county organization made to Klaus Johannis, only the one regarding Virgil Briciu, a lawyer, stood. “For the moment, there is nothing to comment on, let alone on the phone. We will talk in the following days”, Virgil Briciu declared, without confirming or infirming his close appointment as vice-mayor.

Virgil Briciu is the 10th on the list of DP candidates for the Local Council, while the Democrats from Sibiu obtained only two places in the local legislative body. In order to free a place in the Sibiu LC, Livia Sava will be the Democrat councilor to withdraw, for health reasons, the same sources of the DP declare. Virgil Briciu will “jump” five positions and will join the Local Council next Thursday. With Briciu confirmed as vice-mayor, a new vacant place will be created for the Democrats in the Local Council. For this one, the next Democrat on the list of candidates of the DP will be Viorel Florescu.

According to Nicolae Neagu’s statements, the name of the future vice-mayor will be made known officially by the end of this week.
