PD binds the parliament members to the earth
Rejection of the ordinance regarding the establishment of the DNA (National Anti-corruption Department) determined the PD National Office to adopt a harsh attitude in relations with its own parliament members who are absent from the final voting on EU integration related draft laws.
Thus, Democrat ministers and parliament members will not be permitted to travel abroad or in the country in days when such drafts are on the agenda, and all absences will be penalized by the remission of political support, both in the internal structures as well as for leadership positions which they obtained with the support of the party. Likewise, Democrats announced they would propose to their governmental coalition partners to take similar measures.
Among the ones affected would be Kelemen Attila deputy (photo), one of the 35 euro-observers in the European Parliament. Likewise, Kelemen has been in Strasbourg since Monday, and was absent from Monday afternoon’s common session, when the government assumed the responsibility before the Parliament for the packet of laws targeting the reform of the Health system. The president of the UDMR in Mures county declared us yesterday he disagreed with such a compulsion, considering “you can’t get things done in order in the Parliament with such scholastic measures”.
At the same time, the Permanent Office of the Chamber of Deputies decided on Monday to sanction seven parliament members, among which Mures deputy Lavinia Sandru, for unmotivated absence in from the plenary or commission sessions in November 2005. The seven officials will have money withheld from their session allowance. (R.T.)
