Campuses for the pupils from Mures
Three school campuses are to be set up in Mures County. The estimate value of the project reaches 6 million Euros. The constructions will be executed between 2006 and 2009, within a national project, undergoing public debate.
The Ministry of Education and Research announced a strategy for the unification of the education activities in school centers, by creating campuses, which through proper equipment should ensure both spaces for education, and spaces for room and recreation. The novelty of the project consists of the fact that it will offer multifunctional campuses to the local communities. The school campuses will include: school or high-school, dormitories for pupils and studio apartments for teachers, including a canteen and library, properly equipped. Additionally, at the same locations, workshops for trades and specializations required by the specificness of the area and sports bases.
According to the estimation of the Mures County School Inspectorate, 5 school campuses are needed in the county. Pursuing criteria such as the necessity for local economic development, the perspectives of school development, the quality of the school offers and the lack of spaces in education following retrocession, three school units were selected for becoming campuses. The project will pursue the rehabilitation of existing buildings, as well as the construction of new ones, in case of those which were the object of retrocession. Among the objectives included in the project for Mures county, two campuses will be executed through extension and rehabilitation, and one is to be built from scratch, the estimation of the necessary amount reaching 5.9 million Euros. “We made propositions for the Art High-School and the Sports High-School, for Bagaciu – where there is no school – and for Reghin and Ludus. We don’t know what they chose since they provided no answer yet”, Neagu Nicolae, general deputy school inspector within ISJ Mures declared us about this project. (I.O.)
